A man wakes up from a coma to find that someone has assumed his identity and that no one (not even his wife) believes him. With the help of a young woman, he sets out to prove who he is.

While his wife is checking into the hotel, he takes a taxi back to the airport to pick up his briefcase that has been left on the sidewalk. On the way, he fell into a coma in a car accident, from which he woke up four days later without ID and with a lack of memory. He goes to the hotel: his wife refuses to recognize him and another man has claimed his identity. With the help of a nurse, the taxi driver, a retired Stasi agent and an academic friend, he tries to find out what is happening. Is the answer in the folder?
